I begin to present my collection of Prussian 28 mm with an elite unit: the Jäger at the foot of the Guard.
The figures are only four, were painted by me a few years ago. As there is no trade in, I turned the Prussian musketeers of Wargames Foundry, cutting the musket, adding lace cuffs and belt.
The Battalion of Jäger (Hunter) Guard was a unit of light infantry created in November of 1808. Originated the prestigious Jäger regiment of foot, created by Frederick II in the eighteenth century.
The battalion was composed of 501 men, all skilled shooters and rifles lined. Most of the Jäger were former hunters or forest guard, very good at shooting the rifle. They were trained to fight in skirmish, in difficult terrain, such as forests, buildings, etc. ..., and aim at predetermined targets, such as the enemy officers.
The battalion participated in the battles of Lützen andBautzen , in the spring of 1813.
In autumn 1813 the two companies have been aggregated to the body of General York, fighting to Katzbach, Wartemburg, Möckern andLeipzig .
Two other companies were part of the Prussian Guards Brigade of the Army of Bohemia and took part in the battles ofDresden and Leipzig .
In 1814, the unit fought at La Rothiere, Arcis sur Aube and Paris, but did not participate in the campaign ofWaterloo the following year.

For a beginning, that's a great beginning! Wonderful work, faces are impressive...

Caro Phill,
